Next annual conference:
Aging and Society: An Interdisciplinary Conference
Welcome to the website of the 2011 Aging and Society: An Interdisciplinary Conference. The 2011 Conference will be held at the University of California, Berkeley, CA, USA from 8-9 November 2011.
The 2011 Aging and Society: An Interdisciplinary Conference will address a range of critically important issues and themes relating to Aging and Society. Plenary speakers include some of the leading thinkers in these areas, as well as numerous paper, colloquium and workshop presentations.
Aging in Society is an international conference, a cross-disciplinary scholarly journal, a book imprint and an online knowledge community which, together, set out to describe, analyze and interpret the role of aging in society. These media are intended to provide spaces for careful, scholarly reflection and open dialogue. The bases of this endeavor are cross-disciplinary. The intellectual project seeks to examine the economic, health, wellness, political and social aspects of aging in society
We invite prospective participants to submit a presentation proposal for one of the following parallel session options: a 30-minute paper; a 60-minute workshop; a jointly presented 90-minute colloquium session; or a virtual session. We also encourage innovative presentation formats, such as roundtables, staged dialogues, screenings and performances. Parallel sessions are loosely grouped into streams reflecting different perspectives or disciplines. Each stream forms a talking circle, an informal forum for focused discussion of issues and Conference themes.
Participants may choose to submit written papers before or after the Conference for possible publication in the peer reviewed Aging and Society: An Interdisciplinary Journal. Virtual participants also have the option to submit papers for consideration by the Journal. All registered Conference participants receive a complimentary online subscription to the Journal when registration is finalised. This subscription is valid until one year after the Conference end-date.
